Called the “Eye of God” or “Eye of Sauron”, it is the Helix Nebula, located a short 650 light years away in the constellation Aquarius. It would take 2.5 light years to cross it (although cyber-blogger Greg claims he can do it in 24 hours and still have time for a nap) A nebula is a dying sun-like star. The photo was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. It has been circulating the net since 2003 but I just received it in my email last week. Go figure.

I don’t believe a thing real estate agents say. I don’t hate them just the tricky and unexperienced ones. Which in my opinion is most of them. Take the “no obligation market evaluation” for example, the oldest and most unoriginal term you will see advertised. Do they think people are stupid? The real definition should be, “yes I will come over to your home, tell you what it’s worth, then I will bug the hell out of you until you list it with me. In the meantime they will send you some “awesome” fridge magnets, calendars and pencils just so you don’t forget them. I have written at length about this, I’m NOT selling anything, just a frank, real world discussion.

I would never deny you your right to an opinion. As in every profession, there are really good and really bad apples. And many in the middle. I would not paint all agents with the same brush. It’s unfair to the really good ones. And I know you’re not doing that. I too have run into the agent you refer to. Most will go away if you tell them to. It’s aggravating but if you get a real pro it is to your advantage no?
I also agree that owners have the right to sell on their own. This is America for gosh sake. Freedom of choice. But FSBOs may make some mistakes that agents would not. Pricing is a big one. Too high and you wait as the listing goes stale. Too low and you miss out on some cash. You also have to consider all the marketing that may be required to sell your house, the open houses, the appointments, the legal documents you need to deal with, bumps in the road. Granted, if you’re experienced or have the time to devote to selling (maybe a lawn sign is all you need), go for it.
With the changing times, now there are other business models out there. Maybe Redfin or Zip works better for you. What do you think of their models Paul?
Wow, you guys are a lot nicer than I am. I would have totally marked that one as SPAM as it’s unrelated to the topic, and he was “nice enough” to leave two of his own personal links.
Or at the very least, if I wanted to respond to the topic he brought up (with something other than expletives that is, prejudiced is a clean one that comes to mind), I would have snipped out the links.
If it makes you feel any better, I haven’t seen the picture before this either. And it’s wicked cool, so…. thanks!
