We have written about Treehouses before, as well as many other alternative housing options. These hand crafted wood/fiberglass spheres are hung in trees and provide quite an adventure for the free-spirited dweller. They are available for sale or rent.
The brainchild of Tom Chudleigh of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, these Tree Spheres are handmade using light and bendy sitka spruce. The open space interior (diameter 10′4″) can sleep up to 3 people. There are from 2-5 windows, including a skylight. There’s a fridge, microwave & sink and power for your computer and electric heater. The bathroom is provided by nature—find yourself a bush nearby.
You hang these in the tree and climb up a wooden staircase and gangplank. There are 2 models, Eve and Eryn & 2 construction types—wood/fiberglass (prices start at $150K) or fiberglass (starting at $45K). They are insulated. Just want to test drive one, no problem. They rent for $150 per night.
What makes these tree spheres interesting is that they sway gently in the wind and jiggle when you move inside. A storm gives a nice thrill too.
