ShackPrices Adds Text Search Feature

Online real estate search site ShackPrices just added a Text Search feature to help consumers better locate specific property traits.  Want a fixer, type it in the Text search box and any in the database will be displayed.  I typed in “waterfront fixer” and found several properties that fit that description. Want to exclude certan traits, just put in a minus sign (-).  Simple and functional.

Any piece of information shown about a property on ShackPrices can be searched for with text search.
This upgraded search feature is a useful tool for anyone wanting to do a specialized search—and we think a lot of people do.  Great work Galen and company!

  • Thanks guys, another opportunity to bash this site. Just kidding, but I still don't like Shack Prices. I'd love to see them add something cool- oh yeah, in case it wasn't clear... a text search wasn't what I was thinking about when I said "cool." My biggest beef with this site is that it isn't cross browser compatible.
  • Hi REBlogGirl
Cross browser compatibility is a big deal, we agree. We kinda like the text box search (an "AND" search) because most searches are default "OR" searches-- so you're likely to get returns if you type "oceanfront Las Vegas". We are incorporating a similar "tight search" functionality ourselves.
  • Mary, I'm not sure we'll ever be able to match your design expertise, but I'm not sure what you're talking about ShackPrices not being cross-browser compatible. We support Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (even though we don't like it), Firefox and Safari (yes, Safari!).

Are you using Opera or something?
