Sellsius Proposes Nationwide Blogger Meet Ups

sellsius-blog-tour.gif

We have traveled around the country meeting bloggers along the way and it’s been great fun. There’s nothing like the personal contact with those we may only know online. The Problogger Meet Up last week in New York City was a phenomenal success. The place was packed. We exchanged stories and networked, but not in a business sense. It’s Web 2.0 Offline. Who better than bloggers to start this networking phenomenon?

So, we figure we should try to encourage and organize Blogger Meet Ups around the country. This is no joke. We’d like anyone interested to email or call us to discuss how a Blogger Meet Up could happen in your town and how we can create the tour. Who’s up for a party?

Update: 4/3/07

Steve from Ubertor hosted a huge Real Estate meet up last night.

Update May 7, 2007: We’re hitting the road this summer in a cross country blogathon. Join us.

If your serious about this I will take care of Chicago!
  • Yes, we are serious John. We will help you organize a Meet Up in Chicago. We have some contacts there and they can spread the word. Email us on how we can best contact you. Great!
  • I will definitely be on board to assist in Indianapolis. We've got a fairly good circle of bloggers here and I've been doing some blog seminars and consulting for a while now. A meet up would be fantastic.
  • Me of course. I can help with Milwaukee and Madison, WI.

I am in Ft. Atkinson, midway between the two.
  • That's great Douglas & Steven. Drop us an email with your contact info. Our email is elatedclients(at)sellsiusrealestate.com
We'll get in touch to coordinate the Meet Ups.
  • Chicago has one planned for mid-May. I hosted the last two and I know that John was there. John, can you vouch?

We usually do an instructional/share your experience-type thing first, and then hang out for questions and cocktails.

My office is always a good host and we bring 30-40 folks total.

I'll know more on date/time later this week. Sound good?
  • We already do this in Vancouver, BC. It would be great to get some out-of-towners to make the trip. We could even move it to Whistler. That would be fun.
  • East Bay onboard - waiting for more details
  • I'm happy to help set up a Orange County, CA blogger meet up!
  • That's probably the coolest campaign van EVER!
  • Well I was going to call Orange County, CA but Morgan beat me to it.

    Morgan I'll come to yours

    Loren
  • Thanks everybody for the positive response. Let's kick some ideas around.

For those who have a venue, it should be easy. Just pick a date and time and we'll all spread the word on our blogs and pass the word to those in the area.

If you want to host a Meet Up & you don't have a venue, see if you can scout one---maybe get some free press for the venue in exchange for the Meet Up location. Try to work a deal with a local deli/pub/restaurant for some food & drink. Maybe get a little local press to publicize the event. Wanna give that a try Morgan? Maybe you can organize it with Loren? Let us know how we can help.

Maybe we can publish the pics on Flickr.
    Any other ideas are welcome.

Since Dan & Steve have run some Meet Ups, just let us know when you plan the next one---give us the details and we'll post it and encourage others in the area to do the same.

If we put our heads together we can come up with some other cool stuff.
  • Loren,

Lets just plan it together! Send me an email at morganb(at)gmail(dot)com and we can coordinate the whole thing.

I've got some good local press contacts, OC Register, Business Journal, etc. that we can definitely get some coverage for this thing.

I think we can definitely tie this in with a venue that will sponsor the event as well.

Anyone else looking to help organize or has suggestions can send me an email at the above as well - the more the merrier.

    Morgan
  • Keep us posted Morgan.
  • GET THAT BUS UP TO BOSTON!!!
  • I am totally up for a blogger meeting in the Denver/Colo Springs area... but just don't have the time to organize it.

I'm afraid you guys have opened up a HUGE can of worms here... This is an idea that could use a dedicated site with meeting agenda ideas, regional directors, the whole nine yards.

Have you announced it on Active Rain yet??? I guarantee you will get hundreds of responses when you do... The AR crowd loves to network.
  • You're right Justin. We didn't realize how big this can get. For now, we're winging it and encouraging experimentation. (beta Blogger Meet Up ?) As we plod along we can refine it. A dedicated blog is in the offing (any volunteers to partner on it) but for now we'll create a Tab on the home page here and as we get notice of a Meet Up, we'll put up a post and catalog it in the tab by State.
  • What about by Province? :)
  • good catch steve ;) state/province

we love our neighbors to the north
  • Did you folks forget your wp-subscription-manager.php page on an upgrade? I get a 404 Page Not Found when I try to unsub.
  • We'll have to take a look Douglas. BTW I left a voice message for you. We have a Wordpress thingee we want to run by you.
  • Can you write me? doug at my domain. I received the voice mail but it was a bad connection or something - I couldn't hear the message.

    Thanks!
  • I just dropped an email to a couple Pittsburgh bloggers to see if they would be interested. So if anyone from Pittsburgh is reading this, drop me an email and I'll send you the date/time/location when it is worked out.
  • We'll add you to the meet-up tab Robert. Keep us posted of the event.
  • Wow man, it's party time in Tampa. I'll set the whole thing up. Just let me know. By the way, nobody parties harder than Tampa...
  • We'll list you for Tampa JG.
  • Some Active Rain bloggers met recently in Celebration (near Orlando). We certainly had a lot of fun and plan more.

How about something in the evening before Blogger Connect, after the "official" cocktail reception?
  • We would love to Sharon.
