Simple Disclaimer Wordpress Plugin: For Ines

The “standard” disclaimer at the end of this post was displayed automatically using a Wordpress plugin called Simple Disclaimer.

Download the Simple Disclaimer zip file here, extract the files, upload to your blog and activate it in the plug in directory.

Now, at the end of each post just add this (no spaces):

for the standard disclaimer.

The standard language can be changed by changing the text in the array (defined in the php file).  (Consult a lawyer on what language creates a valid disclaimer in your state.) Look for this gobbledegook in the Plug in editor to change the language:

This is the array of disclaimers.
$disclaimer_text = array (
‘ppp’ => ‘This post relates to a PayPerPost Opportunity. ‘,
’std’ => ‘This post contains my personal opinions and does not reflect the opinion of any organisation I am/was associated with or affiliated to.
);

This post written for Ines Hegedus-Garcia of Miami.

  • Wow Ines - you have major clout here! Cool tool Joe - that was fast and responsive :)
  • Joe is DA MAN!! Very nice tool, I am impressed - and know that my brain is not nearly geeky enough to absorb this info at 2:00 AM so will come tomorrow with a clean and well rested brain.

    (thanks!)
  • Funny thing is, Cyndee, I was looking for a plugin when Ines made the comment. Then I found it.

    Joe,

Andy Beard coded a disclosure plugin that I have used in the past:

    http://www.disclosurepolicyplugin.com/

This plugin gives you an option to display a snippet under every single post of your blog as well as links to a disclosure policy page.
  • That's great. Thanks Vlad for passing it on.
  • Thanks, Joe. I think this one need to be elevated to the top of my to-do list.
  • I could never imagine you on the other side of a lawsuit, Kris. You have the gift of wit and humor and with that the legal defense of parody, a darling of the First Amendment-- just ask Larry Flynt or Al Goldstein (only New Yorkers might know of Al, legendary publisher of Screw magazine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screw_magazine
  • Joe,

I see you have just installed the Disqus on your blog. Just so you know it hides the comments already made. You can use the option withing your WP Admin panel to tell Disqus to moderate comments on posts with 0 comments and all new posts.
  • thanks vlad. I am a little panicked. Where did the comments go and how to i get them to appear on the blog?
  • Your comments are fine. Just go to your dashboard and tell disqus plugin to
moderate comments on posts with ) comments and all future posts. I will grab
a screenshot in a minute. Your old comments are still in the database.
  • Very awesome tool that can help save some time when it comes to keeping up with all of the legal crap you should have on your blog.
  • Wow!
It is really very good information about for developing wordpress blogs effectively. I learned more information about plugins.
  • Thanks for this joe, I help a relative who isn't so technically minded to post things to her blog. Frequently she's been a little outspoken and we've joked that she'll get us both into trouble.

I think she'll find this little tool amusing.

    thanks!
  • My pleasure irish. Outspoken relative? A woman after my own heart- I would love to pay a visit.
  • hey ppl... very nice tool!!
