I get a lot of email from folks who really enjoy reading this blog (yes, even the silly stuff). I’m often asked for advice and my first piece is always “Be yourself”. Second is — “Don’t follow me (or that other fellow).” (This later became the Zen Blogger’s Manifesto). Then, I’m likely to ramble about building your brand, breaking the damn rules, experimentation and fearlessness — not being afraid to make mistakes (just ask Glenn Kelman of the Redfin blog). When asked at my first blogging conference gig what I thought made for a successful blog, my answer was BEEP: Branding, Education (w/ Entertainment– like recess at school), Engagement and Personality. And the crux of the biscuit is the personality (h/t FZ).
But what makes blogging extra rewarding is reading stuff like this. Thank you. (PS, you should know, Andrew, I have B.A.D.D.)
