Like the king of weeds, kudzu, the tip jar has spread to blogging.
Open Salon has put “tip buttons” on contributors’ blog posts.
Open Salon’s Tippem program is meant to “reward” their contributing writers.
Here’s a tip, guys– create an ad revenue profit sharing program with your writers. These folks are giving you THEIR content to build YOUR brand and drive traffic to YOUR website so you can sell some ads — why not share some of that ad loot with your writers—now that would be innovative. A tip jar? Well, it’s a start, I guess.
