It seems that we have two contestants thus far Robin:

1. Ardell DellaLoggia of SearchingSeattleblog who says - I’m not just pussyfooting around this time, Batman!

2. Greg Swan of Bloodhound Blog who says - Wait til they getta loada me.

You know Batman, I’ve been thinking:

The way we get into these scrapes and get out of them, it’s almost as though someone was dreaming up these situations; guiding our destiny. - Robin

Well boy wonder, it remains to be seen what our future has in store for us. I wonder if we’ll get any more contestants Robin. Holy Open House Batman! I sure hope so…..

The day is set…Tuesday, September 26th, for Greg and I. I’m going to go Solo…Greg can team up if he feels too “intimidated” LOL Is it even possible to post 101 single handedly in a 24 hour period?

Tuesday equals 12:01 a.m to midnight on Tuesday. Better stock up on Capuccino

  2. 2 Bonnie Erickson Sep 22nd, 2006 at 10:14 pm

I couldn’t make the posts short enough to get 101 in on one day! I’d have to practice for a lifetime!

  3. 3 Greg Swann Sep 22nd, 2006 at 10:20 pm

I’ll be flying solo as well. I can do 101 easily.

    This should be fun.

  4. 4 sellsius° Sep 22nd, 2006 at 10:47 pm

ardell & greg - i’m sure the entire real estate blogosphere will be watching!

here’s a suggestion that may add to the drama:

    post as you go….

    this will do two things:

    1. keep readers constantly checking back for new posts [real sticky ]

    2. it can actually become a race as well - quickest to reach 101 blog posts in a day

    just a thought.

we know how tough it was for the two of us to do 50 in a day. we can only imagine how tough it will be for each of you to double that. good luck to both of you.

  5. 5 Greg Swann Sep 22nd, 2006 at 10:55 pm

    All very reasonable.

You two take an active role in this, too. For all of me, you can call it the Sellsius 101 Grand Prix of Real Estate Weblogging.

    “Holy Crap!”
    -Frank Barone

    nuts. N-V-T-S - nuts!
    -Swiftus (HOTW P1)

Time to turn the RSS off for a day…

    We placing bets? Got odds?

I’m in for $10 on the ‘hound.

  7. 7 Kevin Sep 23rd, 2006 at 1:01 am

I kind of thought only Greg and Ardell would be twisted enough to take this on! :)
Another rule suggestion: No pre-preparation of posts. They all have to be fresh.

  8. 8 ARDELL DellaLoggia Sep 23rd, 2006 at 2:30 am

    Kevin,

I agree. No pre-preparation of posts.

  9. 9 Jon Ernest Sep 23rd, 2006 at 8:49 am

    Holy Crap,

Blog battle of the sexes? Awesome.

Props to Sellsius for successfull instigation!!

I thought I had a rule suggestion, but I can see it eaiter way…
    Duplicate Topics:
    - frowned on for lack of inspiration?
    - or encouraged for possible blog debate (blogbate??)?

  10. 10 Bonnie Erickson Sep 23rd, 2006 at 8:51 am

And who’s going to monitor the pre-preparation? I can imagine the picture of the 50 posts: The “typer” is plugging away while the researcher is searching in the background . . . “I got another one! Here!” . . . . Tap, tap, tappity, tap. . . . “Here’s one!” . . . . Tap, tap, tappity, tap . . . I’m ready for the funny farm just thinking about it! That’s 4.1666666 posts per hour. Hmmmm.

  11. 11 Greg Swann Sep 23rd, 2006 at 9:33 am

    > I agree. No pre-preparation of posts.

Except for thinking. I can’t avoid thinking.

  12. 12 teresa boardman Sep 23rd, 2006 at 9:55 am

I can’t even read 50 posts a day. Yet I am interested. When is this thon?

  13. 13 CJ, Broker in NELA CA Sep 23rd, 2006 at 10:18 am

Yes, but, how are we going to ~tell~ that the posts weren’t written days in advance and by the magic of Copy and Paste……?

But, then, if I were to choose people to trust with the honor system, Ardell and Greg would be at the top of the list.

  14. 14 CJ, Broker in NELA CA Sep 23rd, 2006 at 10:50 am

And not to be too anal-complusive, but has everyone agreed what the minimum post length will be?

  15. 15 ARDELL DellaLoggia Sep 23rd, 2006 at 11:42 am

    CJ,

I’m using Sellsius’ 50 as a guideline. Some were short. Neither Greg nor I want to clog up our blog with crap, I’m sure. The short ones will likely have links, which are harder to do and take longer than straight typing, for me.

Let’s see if Greg has any where every single word is a link ;-)

  16. 16 Greg Swann Sep 23rd, 2006 at 11:47 am

    > Let’s see if Greg has any where every single word is a link

You would not believe how quickly I can do those. The time-consuming part is writing the text to the exact number of words I need for the links.

  17. 17 sellsius° Sep 23rd, 2006 at 12:03 pm

    kevin - great suggestion!

as bill maher says - “New Rule”:

    - no pre-preparation of posts

the honor system is in play here folks. unless a moderator is physically standing over each blogger, is there really way to monitor it? we trust ardell and greg.

the fun part will be bouncing back and forth between greg and ardell’s blog to see if they posted something new. i hope their servers don’t crash.

i encourage everyone to spread the word. who knows, maybe even the mainstream media will pick up on it.

cj - as ardell mentioned, it’s ok to use our 50 post marathon as a guide. some may be long, some short, some simple informative statements with links to the original source etc….no hard & fast rule here.

jon - thanks for adding more fuel to the fire - a battle of the sexes.

    -rudy°

  18. 18 sellsius° Sep 24th, 2006 at 12:25 am

Both Ardell & Greg are winners already. They will forever be a part of blogging history. Put it in Wikipedia—the first Blogging 101 Post Marathon was between Ardell & Greg. Thus will always be.

  19. 19 ARDELL DellaLoggia Sep 24th, 2006 at 1:45 am

Well, I think we have to actually DO it first.

  20. 20 Greg Swann Sep 24th, 2006 at 2:48 am

    Echoed comment:

ARDELL: > Greg is NOT gonna LAST!! LOL

Just so you know, even though I can’t pre-write posts #1 — #101, I wrote #102 earlier today, a victory lap. I think you’ll win the hearts and minds of our colleagues, but there is no way I won’t finish.

  21. 21 Kevin Sep 24th, 2006 at 4:10 pm

I thought it would spice things up for the spectators to get a live betting market going — using fake money, in keeping with the laws of 49 of the 50 states.

    Explanation of the betting market

Click here to place your bets…

The betting begins at $50 per share…

  22. 22 Markus Sep 24th, 2006 at 4:59 pm

This is an interesting concept, sure, but it sort of reminds me of a hot dog eating contest. I would imagine the quality of the posts in relation to the blog will inevitably have to parallel the nutritional value of eating 101 hot dogs in relation to your health.

It’s a difficult task, yes - but I just see the quanity/quality relational curve to be pretty inversely proportional for something like this.

Prove me wrong. (Though I won’t be able to verify this because there’s no way I’ll have the time or desire to read 202 posts)

  23. 23 Teresa Boardman Sep 24th, 2006 at 7:01 pm

Give me more information about this marathon. Like when, I might be interested. Is it true that I did not make the top 10 women real estate bloggers because you thought I was a guy?

  24. 24 Teresa Boardman Sep 24th, 2006 at 7:04 pm

I just read 100 posts as a warm up. Still not sure, I guess it depends upon when.

  25. 25 ARDELL DellaLoggia Sep 24th, 2006 at 11:04 pm

Time Zones…Sellsius is NY, I’m Seattle and Greg is Phoenix. Is Phoenix a different time this time of year? I think 6 months we’re the same and 6 months we’re not.

  26. 26 Kevin Sep 24th, 2006 at 11:14 pm
  27. 27 sellsius° Sep 24th, 2006 at 11:14 pm

You two are the participants so you decide the time zone issue.
We’re fine with whatever works for you. PST? you’re only an hour apart.

  28. 28 Greg Swann Sep 25th, 2006 at 12:47 am

Local time is fine with me. We’re either going to finish with hours to spare or Ardell will have a busy last hour. If you want PST, I can do that, too.

  29. 29 Kevin Sep 25th, 2006 at 3:25 pm

If this web site is correct, Seattle and Phoenix appear to be in the same time zone because Seattle is still in daylight savings time.

  30. 30 Kevin Sep 25th, 2006 at 3:28 pm

Some of Ardell’s supportes must have come out this morning; the odds have tightened to just under 6 to 5, still in Greg’s favor.

  31. 31 Greg Swann Sep 25th, 2006 at 5:12 pm

    > Seattle and Phoenix appear to be in the same time zone because Seattle is still in daylight savings time.

That’s what The Leggy Blonde says, too. I never know what time it is elsewhere. We never change, but the rest of y’all can’t stop fiddling with the clock.

  32. 32 Kristal Kraft Sep 25th, 2006 at 7:45 pm

Ardelle, If anyone can do it, you can! We are vicariously blogging right by your side. Don’t forget the Ibuprofen!

  33. 33 mike simonsen Sep 25th, 2006 at 8:37 pm

No pre-preparation? Holy shmoly, I can’t even get ONE post out without a few hours of pre-prep. Heck, writing this comment takes me a few minutes of thinking/editing to get the wording just so…
