Advertisers learned from graffiti artists that paint on a train exterior gets noticed. Apple has veered off the traditional graffiti/mural ads of the past with a clever twist—put your print ads where graffiti would be—-Place Marketing at its best. Now just imagine waiting for a NYC subway train and watching it pull into the station plastered with the vinyl wrapped advertising from one company? That’s right, one company would sponsor both sides of the entire train. Why? Because you would be able to focus on that one advertsiement from that company alone. No clutter from multiple advertisers to distract you from the message, just like Apple did with their IPod ads.. A captive audience + one advertising message = results.
