I got this Facebook message from Mitch Ribak, a friend of mine, and a good egg. So, I decided to share it with my precious readers, hoping it could help Mitch and his granddaugher Lola.
Most of you know that I have spent most of my life helping as many people as possible. This year I am asking for help for a very special cause. Some of you know the story. My granddaughter, Lola, has a very rare disease called Sturge Weber. It’s a very scary disease that our family has been dealing with since Lola was born in 2006. Unfortunately there is no cure.
Sturge Weber shows up as a port wine stain on the head and across the face. In very rare cases, that stain gets into the brain causing serious health issues from seizures, learning disabilities, strokes and possibly death. Of course it’s tough to talk about and I’m surely not doing justice for just how serious this is. It’s an orphan disease that receives virtually no public funding. All the research our doctors do is from our private funds we raise.
This year we are running our 6th annual Tropical Realty Golf Tournament on May 1 at Savannahs Golf Course in Merritt Island Florida. My goal this year is to hit $20,000. That’s a long shot since we normally average between $10k and $13k. However, I figured with facebook I could reach all my friends and hope that many of you might help and pass on my message.
Individuals and businesses can email me for a golf package which includes our sponsor package and player registration. We need sponsors, players and prizes. I’m hoping you can find it in your heart to help support Sturge Weber this year. If you can’t play or sponsor but would like to help, you can send donations to:
Tropical Realty Charity Golf Tournament
6450 N. Wickham Rd. Suite 105
Melbourne, FL 32940
Make checks payable to: Tropical Realty Charity Golf Tournament
If you would like a player/sponsor package, please email me either here or at mitch@mitchrealty.com. I don’t know if this is the right forum to be trying to raise money, but I do know that when it’s family suffering with a disease like this, especially my beautiful Lola, you do whatever you can. I won’t stop until we figure out a way to help Lola and the other children stricken with Sturge Weber.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. I truly appreciate it from the heart.
Have a wonderful day!
Mitch
