McDonald’s is getting a double quarter pounder with cheese facelift:
1. High Tech Interior Renovations
2. A New Mr. & Mrs. Ronald McDonald? (In Japan Anyway)

This facelift is called “Forever Young” and is an effort to appeal to the new generation of Big Mac lovers. McDonalds is hoping to create sort of a Starbuck’s like atmosphere where you can log in to the internet, watch the news or just sit back and read a paper all while enjoying your chicken Mcnuggets.

According to SignonSanDiego.com, many Franchise McDonald owners have some major concerns about the cost of the renovations.

The “reimaging” plan averages between $300,000 and $400,000 per store, of which McDonald’s covers up to $85,000 of the bill, said Richard Adams, president of the San Diego-based Equity Franchise Group. It represents about 400 franchisees.

The costs to remodel are what some franchise’s net in a year so you can imagine their concerns. We’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out. Will an internal McDonald’s makeover help persuade you to catch up on some emails there rather than at Starbucks where you can enjoy a Grande Mocha Frappachino? Hmmmm?
