Print may be dead but not newspapers if the folding computer screen becomes reality.
Imagine reading a newspaper with an electronic screen as thin and flexible as paper with story updates sent digitally as soon as they happen–plus video! It’s possible with flexible OLED (organic light emitting diodes). Think The New York Times Kindle but a lot thinner, lighter and bigger.
A folding screen was recently demonstrated by researchers from Sony and the Max Planck Institute in Germany who believe “Rigid television screens, bulky laptops and still image posters are to be a thing of the past”.
Researchers told the New Journal of Physics:
The displays have excellent brightness and are transparent, bendable and flexible.
“There are practically no display size limitations and they could be produced relatively easily and cheaply compared to today’s screens.
Say Howdy to the future (and goodbye to the paperboy).
