Scent Marketing: Turn Paint Into An Air Freshener

We’ve written before about the marketing power of scent. Companies are using pleasing aromas to market everything from hotels to tennis balls. Real estate professionals have long known about the warm fuzzies induced by baking bread and chocolate chip cookies.

But can baked goods solve all your scent marketing needs? Let’s say you’re trying to market a home, condo or apartment with a bunch of unappealing smells — whether it be smoke, pet, or cooking odors, the impression on buyers and renters can be a real turn-off that even a bakery can’t mask for long. Well someone has come up with a new aroma approach. It’s called PaintSCENTsations. (According to their PR, 19% of residents complain about odors.)

This Apartment Smells ….. Marvelous

PaintSCENTsations is an air freshener that uses paint as a carrier. According to the distributor, when the product is added to paint and applied on the walls, the scent is imbedded and infuses the room for 4 to 6 months, depending on the room size. The company suggests using 2 coats. (Given the current housing market, you may have to repaint a dozen or so times).

PaintSCENTations comes in 5 scents: Citrus Squeeze, Fresh Air, Sea Breeze, Clean & Crisp and Vanilla Bean.

Has anyone used this or any similar product?

Many investors are hesitant about investing in this market. If you watch the news or read the paper, reports would have you believing that the sky is falling. Well, the sky falling should be the ONLY reason why you would be leery about investing in real estate. The question is not “Should I invest in real estate right now?” it’s “Where do I invest in real estate right now?”

Absolutely REM. If it is a buyer’s market, then there are more opportunities for buyers. The key is knowing how to find them.
