EcoFaeBrick takes cow dung and creates bricks. An EcoFaeBrick is 20% lighter yet 20% stronger than traditional clay bricks. No sh*t.

bricks

According to the website:

We offer you a brick that 20% lighter compared to the clay brick but 20% stronger in terms of compressive strength. By using EcoFaeBrick, you will get benefit not only in the higher quality of bricks but also in the lower structural cost. Please do not worry that such high quality of bricks will cost you extra, as we sell EcoFaeBrick at the same price as you pay for ordinary clay brick.

We use 75% of processed cattle waste as our material.

The company claims other benefits from using cow dung.

  • We use biogas instead of fire woods in our burning process and it reduces 1,692 tons of CO2 per year
  • By using 75% of processed cattle waste, we are able to preserve 53 hectares of productive agriculture land. The clay excavation usually brings a massive damage to the land
  • We built a partnership with the local farmers and through our supply chain they will get an additional income of 53%

Wow, buy a cow and build a house.  And, apparently, poop makes good coffee.

Seems like a good idea in theory, but what happens when a heat wave strikes? What kind of melting point to these things have?

I think you see where I'm going with this...
  • Interesting. There should be a way to prevent that problem.
  • Cow dung is relatively clean- it's good shit.

Seriously, this is very cool. The more we can see everything as potentially useful, the more we can use waste as a product, the better for us all. Farmers can keep costs down as they find new uses for everything that is produced on the farm. This creates multiple income producing avenues for agri-business. Living in the middle of farmland, yeah, I love this idea.

  • I've been selling real estate for quite a while. Haven't met a soul who would live in a shithouse yet!
  • hay bale walls, cow dung bricks, decks made from recycled plastic grocery bags (Trex). Here's the big question: if this stuff is so wonderful and "green" why hasn't it caught on? Is it the building materials cartel? Or OPEC? What's the deal?
  • Great building material, I had heard of this once before. It's ideas like this that are going to save the world, its all of the pro's and then some without any cons. I could imagine this would help developing countries too if they could get the technology, so that they could have the benefit of using their cattle dung to build better homes
  • Cowdungs are used in South India to make bio-gas, to make bricks and to smoothen the floor. They are very hygenic. Nothing to feel dirty about.
