Not cheap? Walk into a furniture and/or mattress store and any good quality mattress will set cost you anywhere from $1000 and up. Tack the frame (not the box mattress) onto that, along with a bed set (comforter, bed skirt, sheets), and you're looking at a pretty penny as well.

Still, I wonder how, or IF, such an amenity would increase the salability of your house and, of course, if the investment would be worthwhile. It seems pretty low maintenance.

Couldn't you see the kids playing with this one. "Where's your sister" "Don't know" "What is the noise" "Agh get her down from there" or "Here Kitty Kitty Kitty" "Where is that darn cat?"

This reminds me of a rumor floating around Austin about a guy building an enormous house with a bed that will be elevated into a glass dome at the top of the house. My question is about a safety net. What if the owner gets up half asleep to go to the bathroom and crashes to the floor. Ouch!

I'm not sure about waking up disoriented to head to the bathroom at night and navigating a ladder. What if you forget you hanging and roll out.

It is however quite creative and I'm sure has it's purpose in a small city apartment.

If you are able to stop the bed at any level, is there a weight limit for the occupants of the bed? I wonder what kind of structural bracing is involved? Just questions that make you go HUMMMM.

The murphy bed goes horizonal. What will they think of next. Saving space in a small area can be a good idea. A room can function one way and when guest come you hang them from the ceiling.
