If you have to show a client something on your computer or you’re in a group setting, such as a conference, and you don’t want your desktop icons to be seen, try Iconoid, a neat little tool that let’s you easily hide all your desktop icons.
There are a lot of hiding options but I found the “Always hide” setting easiest to use. To unhide the icons simply click the desktop and BINGO, they’re back– you can set a timer for how long they stay visible (up to 60 seconds).
You can also export your icons to a file and import them back later. (I didn’t try that)
TIP: uncheck hide cursor and hide taskbar to avoid getting lost.
Here’s a look at Iconoid’s control tabs:
If you keep a lot of icons on your desktop, like I do, then you may find Iconoid useful.
Iconoid takes up little resources, and contains no spyware or adware. And it’s FREE (donations are accepted).
