Art As Advertising

mcdavid.jpg

McDavid could win the Worth1000 ArtAds2 contest. It’s a classic. The great thing about using classical art in advertising is its familiarity to viewers. The incongruity resulting from the addition of advertising elements only adds to the visual appeal. In other words, it gets noticed. Another plus—the artwork is usually copyright free.

Note to artist: Clever and memorable but Ronald McDonald is supposed to appeal to children.  You should have added a happy meal box somewhere.  Know your market.

H/T: BoingBoing.
