Much of New York City residential real estate is co-ops and condos. Brokers and agents sell them, but other professionals service them. Yesterday, I attended The Cooperator’s 20th Annual Co-op and Condo Expo, a premier real estate trade show held at the Hilton Hotel in New York City, and met a great group of professionals.
Ver-Tech Elevator, Bill Krapf, Donald Gelestino (Pres.) & Scott Benson. Ver-Tech is a full service elevator company serving the tri-state area.
Robert Cane, Robert Cane Architect. Robert’s specializes in apartment building lobbies, entrances and facades. Needless to say, after 35 years, he knows his away through New York’s Kafkaesque Department of Buildings and Landmarks Preservation Commission procedures. His work is spectacular.
Falcon Engineering, William Pyznar, P.E. (Principal) and Anthony Volpe. Engineers extraordinare. Also architectural services. See their capabilities here.
Ramps/Lifts for Better Living, George & Paul Fehling. Finding solutions for the physically challenged. Paul lives in my former hometown, Staten Island.

CertaPro Painters, Bob Axisa (President). Residential. Commercial. Interior. Exterior. Customer service and satisfaction are their trademarks. They call you after the paint dries to make sure you are satisfied. If your painter is anything like Bob, you can rest easy.
Chute Span, Sol Freud (President). NY-based but known nationwide, Sol is the Terminator Exterminator. He knows roaches and rodents cold and after he does his thing, he leaves them stone cold. He is also an expert on chute and vent cleaning and maintenance. Chute Span is located on Staten Island. Sol’s a smart guy.
J. Rapaport Flooring, Angel Acosta and Allen Rapaport. Wood flooring is their specialty. Congratulations on your daughter’s college graduation, Allen.
Custom Storage System, Alan Simon. On-site self storage specialists. In NYC apartment buildings, tenants need a place for their stuff. Alan is the man they call.
Stern Environmental Group, Ella Jukillis. Their specialty is bed bugs, but they get stern with roaches too.
Lucidity Signage, Margaret Bever (Pres.) and Mr. B. They color coordinate all local law signage to match the décor and comply with the law. Recognized for fire safety, glow-in-the-dark, and accessories for building. They have the new compactor signs, as well as the famed “you are here” ones. Congratulations on your recent award Margaret.
Ze Realty Group, Ilmi Mehmedaj and Joshua J. Roth (Director). A boutique retail brokerage representing landlords and tenants in New York. Ze know retail. They have no worries from that other Z company.
National Maintenance Supplies, Inc., Victor Negron and Richard Cuccia (CEO). They have it all. Plumbing, electrical, janitorial, maintenance supplies. National is big time.

Local 32BJ Thomas Shortman Training, Scholarship & Safety Fund, Flo Brown (Long Island Coordinator) and Fred Terry (Manager). Educating members of local 32BJ for FREE. A joint labor/management partnership providing services to 54,000 eligible members. Workers learn trade skills and get computer training.
Mr. B and Margie Russell, Executive Director of NYARM, New York Association of Realty Managers. NYARM is an organization dedicated to raising the standards for Property Managers, Resident Managers and Superintendents through education, information, legislative initiatives and peer networking.
A great time was had with Spin Cycle’s Robert J. Corsaro, Sr., Eric Gebroe and Alan Gebroe. They provide card an coin-operated laundry facilities for multi-housing, co-ops and condos.

Brown and Brown of Lehigh Valley Insurance, Chris J. Grynaviski and Ryan L. Weiner. B&B is the 6th largest insurance company in the country with 62 years of continuous service.
The Hercules crew, including Andrew May (President) and Al May (Chairman of the Board). Hercules Corp. was selected by Maytag Company as the winner of the nationwide “Red Carpet Award”. The award is based on customer loyalty, customer service etiquette and a company commitment to engage in refresher training courses. Al May founded Hercules in 1959 in Hicksville, Long Island. That’s a lot of spin cycles.
My day ended with Richard Sieger, Senior Account Executive of Plymouth Rock Energy. Plymouth is a premier provider of fuel oil and natural gas in the New York area. They’ve been lighting it up for almost 60 years. Richard liked the Sellsius brochure and volunteered to pose with it. Thanks Richard.
I spoke with many more professionals including Jesse Friedberg of MDS Property Management Software and Ed Zangrillo of Peace of Mind (POM) Technologies—a security and surveillance company.
The person behind the Expo is Yale Robbins, Publisher of the Cooperator, a monthly print and online real estate resource for the co-op and condo market in New York. Yale Robbins Publications also publishes the well respected Co-op/Condo Directory and the Condo Sales Report (5 years of data for Manhattan sales), among others. If you want to know the New York co-op and condo market, you MUST MUST read Yale Robbins. Yale Robbins Inc. runs MrOfficeSpace.com, an office space portal covering 11 major commercial real estate markets.
Yale is a great guy but I missed him. But I did get a shot of his booth.
