We think our one-time use in the blog post falls under the fair use doctrine. Balancing the factors in the doctrine, we're pretty sure we're in the clear. No nasty lawyer letters yet. If the copyright owner alleges an infringing use, it is common practice to send a notice to remove the image prior to hauling you into court. If we got such a notice, we would honor the request and remove the image(though we might legally disagree). Copyright owners normally bring suit only after such a notice is ignored or if the infringer is making a ton of money from the use of the copyrighted work. So, again we think we're safe.
