Today,  HomeGain announced the results of its nationwide survey of nearly 1,100 current and former HomeGain Realtor® members.

Some results of the survey:

  • Seventy-seven percent (77%) believe home prices will remain the same or decrease in the next six months while 69% say they will stay the same or decrease. (spin as you like, since 46% say they will stay the same)
  • Thirty percent (36%) of their home buyers believe homes are overpriced by 10-20%. Another 4% think they’re overpriced by 21 or more percent. And another 30% think homes are overpriced 1-10%.  Only 20% think homes for sale are fairly priced.
  • Thirty-eight percent (38%) of their homeowners think their homes are worth 10-20% higher than their Realtors say. Another 25% say their homes are worth 1-9% more;
  • 54% say the average difference between list price and price sold is between 5-10%. Another 24% say the difference is between 11-20%. (OK folks, offer 25-30% off the list price, with confidence.  Heck, you may pick up a $500k house between $400-450k. )
  • 42% approved of President Obama’s performance so far. This is a decline in the President’s approval rating, which was an impressive 57% among HomeGainers in the second quarter.
