1990 Boing Boing logo from t-shirt (from Wikipedia)

BoingBoing, an award winning blog, has charged World Blog Center with being a lying, no good son of @!* for using its name and goodwill in a number of its press releases (pre-lie-leases says BB) in order to lure Blogs to advertise on the site. BoingBoing said its name appeared in the first line of 9 releases without permission.
Darin Rowse of ProBlogger alerted BoingBoing and others to discover many had not even paid for space.
Xeni Jardin posted this remark on BoingBoing: I prefer to think of them as lying assholes, because they’re claiming that BoingBoing is a “tenant,” and exploiting the BoingBoing logo and name without our permission in their press releases, on their website, and — according to folks they’ve hit up for cash — in spam emailings soliciting paid membership.
World Blog Center said it had permission. The website is a pixel ad site modeled after the originator, Million Dollar Home Page.
A number of blogs and blog related sites have advertising space on World Blog Center, including Realty Blogging, Blogster, Blog Rankings, Blogging Systems, Slashdot, Blog Fusion and others.
Whatever the truth, Boing Boing’s logo is no longer on the World Blog Center website or its list of “occupants”.
Was this all just a big misunderstanding or a clever buzz marketing move to garner attention? Will advertisers demand a refund?
