Skyscraper Spiderman Climbs Europe’s Tallest Building

skyscraper-climber.gif Alain Robert

Most of us prefer the inside of skyscrapers. Not Alain Robert. Known as the French Spiderman, Alain is an elite solo urban climber. His latest conquest was Europe’s tallest building, the 242 meter West Tower of Moscow’s City Business Complex on September 4, 2007. He said after the climb: “The ascent was nice, it wasn’t too difficult.”

Alain was born to climb. When he was 12 he climbed 8 stories to get into his apartment when he lost his keys. He climbed his first skyscraper in 1994, in Chicago. He has climbed over 70 skyscrapers and monuments.

What makes Alain Robert a marvel is that he climbs by hand, without safety nets. And he suffers from vertigo.
