The idea was inspired by Athol Kay, a talented agent/blogger from Connecticut (RE Agent), with quite a sense of humor. (How can we not love him?) Anyhoot, he left a comment which we later realized was entitled to notice. But how do you recognize insightful, clever, thought provoking comments? Blog posts get all the glory—they get the Carnivals & the diggs, while their writers get the gigs —-but comments, and their authors, are left to wallow in the sideshow shadows. Heck, we’ve all have read comments that were more interesting and engaging than the original post and would have stolen many a Carnie Cupie Doll. Well, no more. Not here. Time to honor the humble comment.
So, we introduce: Comment of the Day. [We also give credit to Jonathan Miller of Matrix. His Matrix Zeppelin has been highlighting comments on his blog for some time and we always thought it was clever.]
So, without further ado, our first Comment of the Day:
By Athol: to the post: Ad of the Day (concerning subliminal advertising):
How could there not be? Home BUYing is very emotional and I suspect not even particularly rational once beyond your basic criteria of number of bedrooms etc.Whether we have figured them out and have A sales trigger button to mash on until someone buys a HOUSE, I’m not so sure.
I suppose you could claim staging is a sublimminal trigger. I mean whether a home has furntiure or not shouldn’t make any difference in it selling, but it does and sellers GET a better price. No one consciously thinks, “this house is staged, so I’ll pay more”, they just unconsciously like the house better. Purely rational thinking would have you think “they LAID new carpet so I won’t have to replace that for a few years, but don’t want to pay MORE for the house because of it”.
Brilliant.

Commenting must be the topic of the day… I addressed the “Comment Pirate” on Realtor Wives today (http://realtorwives.blogspot.com/2007/05/pirate-tactic.html)!
I agree the comments are greatly overlooked; they can even be HIJACKED! (again, it’s explained on Realtor Wives).
Wowza. Thanks guys. It’s a good idea too, comments do get overlooked. I find for myself about 25% of the comments I leave of other blogs I want to turn into a post on mine.
Hint: Captial Letters.
Interesting AR Wife. Now you have me thinking…and it hurts.
Athol,
Perhaps a Carnival of Comments will roll into blogtown.
Thinking hurts you?
No …migraine
Now thats clever
but my question is:
if i got the subliminal message does that mean i have something else on my mind?
hmmmmm - wink, wink
Can you believe the Comment Pirate still hasn’t come forward? I’m baffled!
