North Beach, San Francisco for RE BarCamp & Inman Connect

I arrived in San Francisco yesterday afternoon and checked into the Parc 55 Hotel on Market and Fifth. I have a nice room on the 18th floor with sweeping views of the fog city.

I met up with Lou Cammarosano of HomeGain in North Beach and I snapped these photos. The area has a colorful history. It was a gathering place for beat writers and poets.

Vesuvio

This building had something to do with Francis Ford Coppola (I think). I liked the architecture.

The entertainment is varied:

From the intellectual:

Look, they even have a section on Blogging:

…to the sensual

We went for the Italians …. fried calamari, a margarita pizza, a bottle of red and a shot of Limoncello. Yum-yum.

Sometimes the sights are right under your feet.

On the sidewalk in front of the City Lights Bookstore:

Barbary Coast Trail marker

I can’t help stopping at anything historical, even a clock. I saw this on Market Street.

I saw this one and immediately thought of Larry Cragun, the Undressed blogger.

A city is not only about buildings and neighborhoods, it’s about the people. I’m off to meet bloggers Jay Thompson and Christoph Schweiger and head on over to RE BarCamp.

See you there.

  • I have been regretting not going to Inman. I found out about a little too late and it seems that is all the RE net is talking about this week. I will have to go next year.
  • I have always found the Inman Connects very rewarding. As you may know, I
am a big proponent of offline networking. People are very generous in
sharing tips and insights-- all you need do is ask.

I would wager that anyone who knocks Inman has never been to one of his
conferences and/or is promoting their own show.
  • Hey Joe,

After these four intensive days I am still trying to catch up my apologies that I am late to this post.

It was really good seeing you again and enjoyed our "off-line" conversations.
  • It was great spending time with you Christoph. I really enjoyed it.

Maybe we'll meet again in NYC in January.
  • Careful not to stray too far past the Glide Memorial Church. The Tenderloin is very close. Great restaurant across the street also; after all we should know or location, location, location.

    Hi Joseph,
Love the photos. Totally enjoyed meeting you at BarCamp today and hearing the inside story of the Blog Tour. Great stuff! Thanks for taking the time to make me feel welcome and let's hope the rest of the week is productive as well.
