Developers have done their homework on student housing and see a great demand in the niche market. Loft-Right and Callaway Villas are examples of his trend. Loft-Right gives Chicago’s DePaul University students luxury loft living complete with private bedrooms and baths, plasma tvs, granite countertops, hi-speed internet access, housecleaning, 24 hour lobby staff, and awesome city skyline views. Loft-Right is located at 1237 W. Fullerton Avenue in the heart of Lincoln Park. The developer is The Scion Group. Makes you want to go back to school.
The monthly Loft-Right cost, per student, ranges from $1,025 - 1,600.
Callaway Villas caters to students at Texas A&M (”Aggies”) in College Station. The villa rooms are fully furnished and have full size washer & dryer, full size kitchen with refregerator & dishwasher, central A/C, cable, hi-speed internet and more. The community amenities include a theatre, full gym, game rooms, clubhouse, lounges with flat screen tvs, and tanning rooms. The monthly per student rates are unbelievably reasonable (did the developer study economics?):

If you can afortd it, why not? You could be at a comfort of a home while studying. It’s a lot more relaxing and codusive to learn if you are surrounded by great environment.
That rate must be per student per bedroom. That is the only way that would make any sort of sense whatsoever. It still seems like the thing to do considering how expensive dorm housing is.
Makes sense to us Ed.
Rocco, Yes it is cost per student.
It’s sad if students will use it for parties and all kinds of fun stuff instead of using it’s advantage as a great place for studying. It’s probably how they live today.
I agree with Ed for the advantage of having a comfort of a home while studying
