Homethinking Launches Neighborhoods: Learn a New City By Comparing Neighborhoods

Homethinking has just launched Neighborhoods, a neighborhood comparison tool for folks moving to a new town.

Here’s how it works:

Lets say you love the Chelsea neighborhood in New York and you’re moving to Boston — where can you find a neighborhood with a similar feel? Well, Neighborhoods will give you several similar neighborhoods to compare, like so:

Click on a comparable neighborhood and get user comments and reviews.  For example, if you click “South End” in Boston you will see ratings of the neighborhood on Vibe, Art/Culture, People and Activities.  (Perhaps a tab on Housing might be useful?)

Marketing TIP: If you are a real estate professional, this is a good place to share your local knowledge of the area.   Where relevant, share the tool with prospective clients.  It will show you are aware of helpful online resources (ones they might miss).

Neighborhoods also offers a free 30 day “featured neighborhood real estate agent” ad, which links to the agent’s profile:

I love the  notion behind Neighborhoods– it’s real estate gestalt.  And there is no place to get it– until now. We all Most know real estate is local and people buy into places and lifestyles,  as well as individual homes.  Heck, folks in New York and Miami just want to live in certain buildings.

Give Neighborhoods a spin.

  • Seems like this site was launched sometime ago. Comparison of some neighborhoods would be quite different, especially when looking at a location in a subtropical environment versus a neighborhood in the Northeastern US.
  • While Homethinking was launched sometime ago, the Neighborhoods comparison
    feature is new.
  • Hey Joe, thanks for the confirmation of my feelings. The comparison is a good idea, but it does leave one with thoughts about how to truly write a comparison. Some of the larger developments here are not shown.
