How to Use Twitter to Find Clients

twitter-anyone-know-marketing

Those who pooh-pooh Twitter for business, simply have not taken the time to explore the possibilities or still think it’s only about what you’re doing now. Here’s one method I share with my clients–it’s called the Anyone Know Search (AKS)

Go to Search.Twitter.com and type this in the search box: anyone know [fill in the blank with your profession and location (unless you're national)].

Here’s an example:

twitter search portland

The results:

anyone know a realtor

This is a Twitter need . Send a tweet or Direct Message to this person. Since you are a fellow Twit, you already have something in common.  See if it works.

But there’s more to the AKS strategy.

fed

Get the RSS feed for this Twitter search inquiry and you will get an email every time someone tweets they are looking for a Realtor in Portlad (or wherever the heck you are).

Here are some other folks looking for Realtors in other places on Twitter:

anyone know realtor

So wise up and try using Twitter to help folks looking for you to help them. More Twitter marketing tips coming here soon– so subscribe whydontcha?

Bonus Twitter Marketing Tip: The BIO TWEET

Since you’ve paid good money to come here…ah.. wait.. you haven’t paid a dime.. nevermind. Here’s a tip on your Twitter bio– you can change it. Do it to reflect what you are currently working on— “Saving folks from bank foreclosures in Chicago” “Writing a book on Twitter. ” “Casting for homeowners in LA” I call it the BIO TWEET.

The same doubting Thomas types for twitter share the same "you're wasting your time with real 30 frames per second video for property, community, brand promotion". No you are not. Using any platform correctly, putting time in to working the system is how you do it. Not a "that won't work" attitude when an agent has not fully implemented that marketing tractor beam.
  • Twitter can be used to get traffic to your websites or the sites of friends. If you ask your friends to tweet about it, the message will spread faster and further as other active users pick it up. There is a viral nature to all types of news, even on a site like Twitter.
  • 1. Get on twitter
    2. Join the conversation and build your following
    3. Talk about your industry, show your expertise
    4. Respond to any followers who are looking for services
    5. Search for twitter users who are looking for services
    6. Offer help and answer questions related to your industry
    7. Send your portfolio/website to all potential clients
  • The first thing you need to do is determine who your potential clients are. For example, if you're a freelance writer like I am, you'll want to target people who will hire writers. This could be anyone from business owners, editors, and people who have their own websites and blogs.
  • I think Twitter would be great for any online business - just need to know how it works is all.
