A new world record for a private home sale may be imminent. The price: $232 million!
The deal has not been confirmed, but a home in London’s Kensington Palace Gardens neighborhood is reportedly being bought by Indian steel tycoon, Lakshmi Mittal (perhaps for his son Aditya), for £117 million (USD $232 million)! That would set a world record price for a private home sale.
The four-story home is fully furnished and includes an art gallery. Lakshmi already has a 12 bedroom home in Kensington Palace Gardens, which he purchased in 2004 for $128 million. In the $50 billion dollar club, Mittal is the richest bloke in Britain and 4th in the world, according to Forbes’ rich list.
Dubbed “Billionaires Row”, Kensington Palace Gardens is perhaps the world’s most expensive residential street. It also contains many ambassador homes and embassies. Maybe, some day, Redfin’s founder would move in and talk shop with Jonathan Hunt, founder of Foxtons, who currently lives in the hood.
(Thanks to Larry Braden of Interactive Realty, who sent me the tip.)
