Don’t Let Your Brand Be Hijacked By Misspellers

Online Marketing 101:  Protecting Your Domain and Trade Name

Buy the domain names for likely misspellings of your trade name to keep others from grabbing them and your traffic. Besides confusing consumers, it may also affect your brand. Case in point:

Zillo.com (above) is not Zillow.com but it sure sounds like it.  As a result, consumers may mistakenly type Zillo and be taken to the wrong website.   Don’t let this happen to you.  At $9.95 a domain name, it’s a minor cost to avoid a major headache.

(Zillo Tip from Laurie Manny).

  • Great tips Frank. You should write a book :)
  • I recommend NameCheap.com

If your domain has REALTY in it, buy REALITY. I see that typo all the time. Also don't just have the domain name website forward, also make sure your EMAIL forwards.
