RentJunge is Apartment Search Engine with Facebook App

rentjungle

RentJungle is new real estate rental search site.

According to their press release:

Rentjungle.com works much like Google in that it scours the Internet and pulls together apartment listings from a variety of sites. It one ups Google by focusing solely on apartment searches and displaying results either on a simple, interactive map or as a listing with links to Google street views. So you can get an idea of what awaits outside your front window without having to physically visit the place—especially useful if you’re moving to a new city or want to apartment hunt at 2am. (emphasis added)

Here’s how easy it is to search on the website. Enter address, city or zip.  Interestingly, you can search for rentals near colleges.  It searches many websites, including Craigslist, Sublet.com,  and Apartments.com.

Or, you can search it out on Facebook and share it with a friend:

Besides being able to search for apartments in a city, including neighborhoods, it has a Facebook application you can add to your Facebook page.   It lets you search on Facebook for apartments and share the results with your friends.

Rent Jungle has launched an apartment search and sharing application that is first of its kind in the apartment industry. You can  search for apartments using our Facebook Apartment App without even leaving the Facebook site. You can share apartments and invite your friends to comment. Best of all, it is free! Try it! (emphasis added)

It also has a rent comparison tool to see if you are paying too much for rent.  Interesing.

Who’s the guy in the Jungle?

Behind the site is Rick Ferris, a real estate broker with over 30 years experience in residential and commercial realty.  He’s sold or leased over $400 million in commercial property and has earned the CoStar Power Broker Award every year since 2002.

I’m going to have to pass Rent Jungle to my son, who’s looking for an apartment in Manhattan.

If only this application was available three years ago when I needed to find a better apartment to rent. Unfortunately I had to find apartments in NY City using directories and other such sites. Oh well, I do like the one I'm in now and have been in for two years so I guess it isn't all that bad.

Is the application used only for renting apartments? I am looking for an apartment to buy it and an application able to do that would be great. And if it can query the insurers for home insurance quotes one will be spending less time looking for a home. I can imagine having all the data needed just with a mouse click.
  • Nice to have it all in one place, however constant innovation in its technology will be the key.

Sometimes it can be very difficult to find an apartment. Such an application could be very useful if it manages to bring together all the information people are looking for, and all in real time.

  • I feel sooo far behind the game. I just saw this post today. What an amazing resource. I have only used Marketplace in the past which is *OK* but this looks a bit more promising...

    Thank you!
  • Arent we getting a little carried away with this technology thing?

What about simply being able to list properties on a site?

    Wierd, I know.

This is a very good service for the real estate market. Google has launched a similar program, a real estate dedicated search engine that can allow anyone, anywhere in the world to find and see through Google Maps a certain property.

  • RentJungle is definitely a great way of locating suitable lodgings. An apartment search engine sounds like a really great idea, and because the nature of man is to be inherently lazy, I do foresee that their service will be a great success.

It really harnesses the power of a niche market search engine with social media aspects, making the narrowing down of a prospective rental a much easier task for people looking at moving. I'd like to see something similar becoming available here in South Africa soon, there is a definite gap in the marketplace here.
  • Do they have rent jungle for Miami yet I wonder? I will check this site out it sounds great.
  • It is very convenient to use the site. The idea is very good. The only thing I do not like that the site do not support international search. But I think this possibility will be added soon.

  • This is a great resource for people looking to rent. Actually, I have started sending young couples to this application when they find out they can't buy. Easy to use in a very recognizable forum.

wow great post and great advice. I tend to only read the blogs that I find interesting .
Keep posting stuff like this i really like it.
  • I hadn't seen this before today. Looks very useful. Thanks for sharing, I could have some fun with this one!
  • Rentjungle is pretty cool. It reminds me of an early rental-only version of zillow. Being able to look at a graphic map really saves a lot of time and effort when looking for/pricing out potential properties.
