Twist Tells Tweet Trends on Twitter

Buzz marketing, viral marketing and word of mouth marketing require folks to be talking about you — a lot. You can’t build brand awareness if no one knows your brand well enough to tell others about it.

Social networking websites are online water coolers — you want your brand in those conversations, even if you have to start the conversation.  Companies who shy away from social sites based on ROI concerns are missing the brand bus in a big way (as well as the SEO value).

Twitter is a popular gab fest social website and Twist is a trend tool that measures the conversations there.  Type in the terms you want to compare on Twist and see the weekly or monthly results on a chart.  (there are supposedly all time results but I couldn’t find them)

You can also click the search terms to see exactly what folks are yapping about.

Here are the monthly results comparing Inman, Trulia and Zillow.  [Inman's Real Estate Connects generated a lot of buzz and tweets in July-- another good marketing reason to host events and conferences.]

And here’s what folks are saying on Twitter about Inman, Trulia and Zillow.

If no one is talking about you on social networking sites, you might not be taking advantage of their word of mouth marketing and brand building potential.

  • Social media is a great tool for marketing yourself and your business. Twitter is one of it. Here you can share links or even promote your business information. It also builds relationships online. Twitter is getting people to link up.

    Have you tried Twitter local?

This only monitors key words from the twitter site, correct? I did a search for several comparisons and came up with nothing. I see that it only offers a "week" and a "month" search. Have you found the all-time search feature yet? If so, let me know where to go.
  • Hi Brett,

Yes, they only monitor Twitter and I found the same lack of metrics on
companies I know are being tweeted--- Twist must have a certain threshold
(way too high IMO), like Google Search Insights. So what you have is a
great tool, not everyone can use.

No, I did not find the "all time" search either.
