Woman Saves Home From Foreclosure With Bake Sale

A Teaneck, NJ mother of three, Angela Logan, was in the soup facing foreclosure.  She had an idea.  A bake sale.  In a nutshell, if she could sell 100  homemade “mortgage apple cakes” at $40 each she would save her home.  A piece of cake.

As of Tuesday, Angela’s apple cakes were selling like hot cakes and she had a gravy train of more than 500 orders pouring in, including a take out from Hong Kong.

After reading about Logan’s financial pickle, the Hilton Hotel in Hasbrouck Heights offered her the hotel kitchen on a silver platter, with a commercial mixer and large convection oven, to help her bring home the bacon. Through the fruits of her labor, she will be able to make the first of three $2,559.94 payments to feed to the Bank of America as part of her mortgage loan modification.

Luckily for Logan, the hotel came to her rescue just in time, to keep her from falling from the frying pan into the fire.  It seems Teaneck officials were hot and heavy to cook her goose and serve her with a cease-and-desist letter.  That would have really upset her apple cart.  “It’s a state law that you cannot use your house as a commercial kitchen,” said Wayne Fisher, Teaneck’s health officer big cheese and top banana.  She would have needed a separate kitchen, a license from the township and training.  She could have faced up to $1,ooo in fines.  That’s a lot of dough.

Fisher said township people were spilling the beans on Angela but he was not a bad apple, but a good egg,  and was willing to help her.

That Angela is one smart cookie.  She turned her famine into a feast.

Great article, Angela logan should be applauded, that was great ingenuity. I love stories that use creativity to save their homes, instead of sitting and doing nothing.

I'm with theloanguy, it is nice to see a homeowner trying to do the right thing instead of just walking away. Great idea!

There is another link under the category of personal finance but it has nothing to do with finance. If you have difficulties in making payment, you can click the link named

http://www.wachoviabank.com. You will have an expert helping you to fix your problems and you don’t have to go out of

your home to get the service. What you need to do is to choose a button between the two “call us today” and “we’ll call you”. Don’t you think this service shows the

attentiveness and consideration of the Wachovia? It’s really good in my opinion.
