Yellow Treehouse Restaurant Wins Ad Award

One way to stand out from the crowd is to go where others fear to go.  But what if no one knows you’re doing it?

The building of the Yellow Treehouse Restaurant , 10 meters up a redwood tree in a New Zealand forest, was an integrated marketing campaign done for the New Zealand Yellow Pages. A non-professional was chosen to get it built, using only the Yellow Pages. It was Tracey.

Her construction mission was documented online- in blog posts, video, photos and social media.  The story was naturally picked up by mainstream media newspapers, magazines and television.  The restaurant was successfully built, designed by Pacific Environments Architects.

The ad campaign just won a Silver Integrated Lion Award.

Are you doing something no one else is doing?  Are you using the online channels available to get you noticed?   Sarah Bandy, a Realtor in Colts Neck, NJ is giving it a shot.

Really only the yellow pages? It looks super amazing! I mean the structure and aesthetic beauty is wonderful. And i especially liked the night lighting. I would love to go there someday, hopefully driving on my own.

That is one beautiful structure: perfect treehouse for entertaining guests and just another reason to hitch through NZ again.
  • What a great restaurant idea! I love the design, but I wonder if they were able to do it without drilling into the tree physically.
