Why You Should Advertise on Coffee Cups

I’ll bring the donuts, you bring the coffee.

Coffee cups are ubiquitous everywhere. But that’s only one reason to advertise on them. Another is because coffee stimulates the brain and makes it receptive to information. It also enhances memory.

A 2005 study by Austrian scientists using fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) showed that caffeine boosts higher brain functions associated with memory and attention. For the medical types, that means visible brain activity in the frontal lobe and anterior cingulum. The effects were observed after volunteers were given 100 mg doses of caffeine, the equivalent of two cups of coffee (or one espresso at Cowgirls).

Similar findings were found in a 2004 study published in Behavioral Neuroscience.

This findings are useful to those in neuromarketing, a new field of marketing which uses medical technologies to study the brain’s responses to various marketing stimuli, including color, smell, taste, touch and sound. They think it works better than asking “Do you like this product?”

I have actually done this before on coffee sleeves with a company called britevision and it worked really well. Very locally targeted and a great way to get your name/service in the local market.

I can tell Ravi hasn’t been here before. Coffee is what I am. When the caffeine level drops too low I lose consciousness and go out on the internet and leave comments on blogs, and don’t remember them. The comments, I always remember the blogs. See what I mean? Is this post controversial enough to attract readers? I hope so.
