From Meme to You

It’s Meme time again.

I was tagged by Sparky and Colleen Kulikowski.

Who is your favorite musical artist? (post a YouTube Video)

The crux of the biscuit is: If it entertains you, fine. Enjoy it. If it doesn’t, then blow it out your ass. I do it to amuse myself. If I like it, I release it. If somebody else likes it, that’s a bonus. (interview, May 1993)

Frank Zappa (1940-1993). Composer, guitarist, social satirist, free speech advocate who was not afraid of words.

Some of his words on censorship:

Who is your favorite artist?

Le Cadeau (Gift) (Man Ray 1921)

“There is no progress in art, any more than there is progress in making love. There are simply different ways of doing it.” (Man Ray)

Hmm.. tough one. Artists come in many persuasions. Here are some of my favorites in different fields:

Man Ray, Salvador Dali, Albrecht Durer, Zhuangzi (Chuang Tzu), Chaucer, Camus, Ovid, Dante, Boccaccio, R. Crumb, M.C. Escher, Will Rogers, Woody Allen, Prof. Daniel Rotenberg (my Consitutional law professor, discerner of bullshit)

Who is your favorite blogger?

A toss up between Hanan Levine (grow-a-brain) & Brian Clark (copyblogger)

If you could meet anyone (alive or dead) who would it be and what is interesting about them?

Jesus Christ.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a Catholic priest (no kidding).

What is the most interesting piece of trivia that you know?

No piece of paper can be folded more than 7 times.

If you could live in any point in history when would it be and why?

The Renaissance. In Italy. Because art ruled.

What was the most interesting job you ever had?

Door to door salesman of kitchen cutlery. I was always worried I’d cut my finger during the coin slicing demonstration and bleed all over the place. My first experience with marketing and sales.

Parting thoughts. You’ve been memed.

Since I would love to learn more about everyone out there in the blog trenches, go ahead and consider yourself memed. Just send me the link so I can learn something about you too.

  • Cutco knives?

The guys on MythBusters made a piece of paper the size of a football field and folded it 11 times. They needed a steamroller and a forklift, but they did it. (Episode #72)

  • Yes, Kutco.

11 times with a steamroller and forklift? Maybe it's 7 times by hand?

    Comment from Sabrina:

Jesus Christ is a fabulous answer. I would want to meet him "now," though, in his current self, as opposed to the Christ of 2,000 years ago. I would rather him come to me rather than me go back in time, so to speak. Wouldn't it be great if he would drop by?
