I met Larry Yatkowsky (YatterMatters) at the 2008 RE BarCamp in San Francisco. I was sitting behind him when he asked a question, which few (none?) can answer, “What’s the ROI for this blogging, social networking stuff? Are you guys just blowing smoke up my arse?” I paraphrase, of course. Larry’s a straight shooter. But the nice kind. His bullets are greased with a disarming wit and charm. He’s a smart guy, having been in the real estate business for a gazillian years. He’s from north of the border, Vancouver, BC Canada, but I don’t hold it against him
. Larry’s blog reflects his personality– read it and see what I mean.
Well, needless to say, I spent a lot of time with this smart, witty, down-to-earth, fun-loving fellow, both at REBarCamp and the Inman Connect. We also hit the party circuit together (real social networking). Anyhay, Larry hit me with a meme– you know, those computer chain letters we love and hate– hate ‘em because we have to answer them, love ‘em cause we get to talk about ourselves.
6 Random Things You Wouldn’t Know About Me Unless You Asked :
#6: I love flea markets, street fairs, bazaars and any venue where there’s a lot of folks competing for business. I love observing the various marketing/sales techniques (as well as looking at all the odd stuff).
I pass this meme baton to (sorry folks):
Rob Hahn (the Notorious R.O.B.. Notoriously outside the box.)
G. Dewald (Director of Web Strategy, Union Street Media. Creative thinker. Insightful in a way that is damn useful.)
Mark Eckenrode (HomeStomper. A must read marketing blog. Really.)
Alex Chang (CEO of Roost, the MLS laden search engine bests Zillow and Trulia where it counts, locally)
Grant & Gia Freer (The great folks behind Reelseekr.com, a social IDX listing portal w/FSBOs. The Swiss army knife of real estate sites– Trulia has heat maps, Reelseekr has cool.)
Reggie Nicolay (MyTechOpinion. Cutting edge tech stuff regular folks can understand. Nik Nik’s dude)
