After weeks of planning the blog makeover for our Project Blogger apprentices, Michael and Barbara Daly, we are happy to announce that we’re ready to make some waves in this competition. Welcome to Beachamptons blog!

Here are some of the “Blog Staging” changes we made:

A. New Blog name: Beachamptons - Barbara and Michael coined it. (one h)
B. New Blog Theme: Brightside

Old Blog Theme:

New Blog Theme:

We added the following Plugins and Widgets:

  1. MyBlogLog widget - displays your readers happy faces :)
  2. Blog Surfer widget - click on it and get random posts from our archives
  3. Meebo widget - private live chat with your readers
  4. Wufoo Custom Contact Us form - (thanks to Jeff Turner for the great find)
  5. Automattic Sidebar widgets
  6. Spam karma 2 (it has killed over 100,000 comment spams for us)
  7. Add meta tags - control your meta tags
  8. Update .htaccess file
  9. Change Permissions on files
  10. Migrate former blog’s content over to Beachamptons
  11. Deans permalinks migration - we changed the permalink structure to a more friendly url - custom structure we use- /%category%/%postname%/
  12. Google sitemaps
  13. Seo title tags - Effectively use your titles
  14. Simple tags - for the Technorati search engine
  15. Wordpress Cannonical Url - Redirects requests for a single post to the proper permalink location.
  16. Getclicky - Web 2.0 Analytics Program

Now that Micheal and Barbara have a brand spanking new look, it’s time to get to work decorating it with great hyper-local content Hamptons’ buyers, sellers and real estate agents will find useful, informative, entertaining and fun. Let the business of blogging begin.Come by and leave a “blog warming gift” over at the new Beachamptons—it’s the nice thing to do.
