Turn Photographs Into 3D Images: fotowoosh

Have your photographs come to life with a 3D effect. How? Go to fotowoosh and find out. It’s in alpha so we have yet to try out the product but it looks to be a video / slideshow alternative. Check it out.

Marketing is about being noticed. This photo enhancing technique may help. Use it on your real estate property listings, ads, newsletters, and email. Isn’t technology grand?

So how’s it done.  We’ll let fotowoosh explain:

Our approach is to learn the structure of the world and the appearance of geometric surfaces from a large set of training images. We can then apply that knowledge to new photographs. If we can determine where the vertical surfaces contact the ground in the image, we can recover the depth of those surfaces (up to a scale), giving us a 3D model.

To create the final result, we simply texture map from the original image onto the model.

Aaa, OK.

It looks ok but unless it was my computer, it seems to have a few kinks. The picture seemed to jump around a little. You are correct though marketing is about setting yourself apart. Being the 1st to use new technology is usually a good thing.
