Are Home Listings Like Airline Tickets? Do Third Party Listing Sites Have Anything to Fear?

Not happy with travel fare aggregator, Kayak, American Airlines recently decided to pull its listings from the popular website. Display of listings may have something to do with the dispute. Techcrunch suggests referral fees may also play a part in the dispute and says other airlines like Continental and Northwest may follow suit. (I haven’t seen the specifics of AA’s complaint)

Some folks from online travel, and other industries, have set up online real estate megasites.

Are home listings like airline tickets to be freely given by listing brokers and agents to any and all third party listing sites? Do listing brokers have any reason to complain so long as they get exposure of home listings to consumers and a link to their websites?

Hmm…. if the American Airline/Kayak tussle is a sign of what can happen, third party real estate listing sites like TruZillia might have to be careful they don’t breathe too much hot air on real estate brokers (or step on any houses).
