Do you put your real estate listings on GoogleBase?

You might want to consider it, since Google Maps displays GoogleBase real estate listings.

See for yourself — go to Google Maps, click “Show Search Options”,  then open the drop down menu and select Real Estate.

List or feed your real estate listings to GoogleBase here.

Here’s how it opens on Google Maps:

  • Most sites that you can create listings on such as Postlets,vFlyer, RealBird and even several virtual tour companies will syndicate out to Google Base as well as a number of other sites. I've been doing this for months and months. and, quite frankly, haven't seen a lot of benefit except that I can tell a seller, "Hey, look what I'm doing for you!"
  • Yeah, I wonder how much benefit it would have considering I never knew before today that Google showed real estate listings from Base on their map. I knew Base did listings, but that was about the extent of it.
  • The RE agent drop in income story has other facets.Agents
incomes are way down. The figures calculated are probably
directionally correct overall. What makes things worse for the
agents is that they're not doing 54% less work, or incurring 54%
less out of pocket costs. Many pay for system access and certain
RE related services out of pocket. With income reduced but
expenses holding steady, the reduction in their net income is
more pronounced. Many of these agents are also spending
significant amounts of time and energy working on short sales.
Few of these transactions end up closing and yielding
commission $ as many banks are dragging their feet on dealing
with problems. The only people who seem to have it worse are
the spec builders. Many are being boiled alive as the problems
they put off in 2008 by renting out unsold inventory are now
    snowballing into massive losses.
  • Don't know how that last comment was relevant, but ...

Showing up on the Google map is just one more way for people to find you. It's really important to show up locally. All search is local in a sense, since people would rather do business with a store or company that is local.

This is a helpful post. I also wrote up a complete 'how to' post on getting yourself listed on the Google Local Business Directory here:

  • Thanks Cory. What other places to you list online-- superpages?
  • that's a nice trick i actually hadn't thought of....nice work!
  • It is an interesting idea that will pay off big time for the Play for Property folks as there are a lot of hungry people out there.
