NoPayTenant Is Landlord Deadbeat List

NoPayTenants.com is a free site for landlords to list, you guessed it, tenants who don’t pay.

Registration is required for rental property owners who want to add or update their tenant records.

Landlords can search by name, mobile phone number, social security & drivers license numbers (last 4 digits). Tips for searching for nonpaying tenants here.

I think a site like this is an excellent idea. The information about non-paying tenants is helpful to landlords that have lost considerable money that they were entitled to. The information should not be taken as indisputable fact. These postings can be checked because most information will be a matter of public record. In Chicago it takes eight weeks to evict a tenant plus about four hundred dollars in court costs. On this timetable deadbeat tenants can pay four landlords one month rent and be evicted four times a year. What a way to beat the high cost of housing. This is a new trend. Dishonest tenants can force property owners into foreclosure with the help of the courts. Landlords need help too. Not all landlords are slumlords or rent pimps.

Anyone that knows anything about the Internet knows federal law protects websites like NoPayTenants.com, AngiesList.com, RipoffReport.com, etc. Yes, you can file lawsuits and lose and end-up paying all the legal fees for those websites! Let’s face it…. the “professional” credit rating agencies have been posting defamatory information about people for how long? A landlord has the absolute right to post tenant rental history on-line for the entire world to see and like all the other websites, you agree not to post false information as part of using those sites. The only people that don’t like these sites are those that have screwed over people and don’t want to be exposed. The good news is if you’re a tenant and your name isn’t on that site you can breathe a sigh of relief. The bad news is if you’re a deadbeat tenant you may have to pay-up to get off it.
  • Really, it's a good informative site. I wanna tell you a good news. Some people spend tens of thousands of dollars on plastic surgery in attempt to regain their youthful appearance. The absolute best non surgical face lift treatment we’ve discovered is an all-in-one anti aging cream based on Nobel-Prize Winning science.
  • I see this creating a lot of lawsuits. A landlord has no right to post this type of defamatory information about a current or former tenant for any reason, if for nothing more than it just isn't professional.

I own several rental properties and in the past have had one or two bad tenants, as I am sure many other landlords have had, but I would never consider using this service to post or research information about a tenant.

There is also a horrible potential for people to exploit this service and post false information about people. Think of bad divorces and broken friendships.
  • I can see your point. But what if the information is accurate?

  • Joseph,
Nopaytenants.com is an interesting concept; it's only as good as the information it receives about non paying tenants from past landlords. I hope landlords use the site so it becomes a great resource for those of us qualifying tenants.
