You can post roommate wanted or share ads on Sellsius°. How to you know if the person answering the ad is right for you. Here are 7 questions to ask:
1. Are you Neat or Messy?: Rarely does the Odd Couple matchup work out. If your neat find another neatie. Now if your a little messy and a neat person will share with you, it’s almost like getting maid service. But be careful, no one wants to pick up a lot of your crap for too long.
2. What are your Party Habits?: If like you prefer to cocoon at home with a good book and a cup of tea you do not want a late night party type who brings friends over on a regular basis.
3. What hours do you work? You want someone who’s schedule somewhat mirrors yours. Otherwise you will not get a full nights sleep when your roommate who works the night shift rolls in at 5 a.m and turns the TV on.
4. What do you do for a living and how much do you make? Obviously you want a financially responsible roommate.
5. Do you Smoke? Another important thing to know.
6. What are your interests and hobbies? You will be sharing space with another person so it helps if you have compatible interests—whether it be music, sports or Texas Hold Em. Otherwise you will bore each other silly, silly I tell you.
7. May I have your prior roommates telephone number for a reference? If the person hesitates, think twice. There is usually a reason a person is looking for a roommate or share & you should try to make sure the reason is not that the person was kicked out of his or her former digs.
TIP: Be wary of any person in a hurry to sign a lease with you. It is usually a sign of desperation.
