Here’s the scoop from Bill O’Reilly - O’Reilly Factor Flash

“San Diego television reporter John Mattes was brutally attacked by a suspected con man and his wife. While Mattes was conducting an on-camera interview, alleged scammer Sam Suleiman began punching the reporter in the face and head. Still reeling from his visible injuries, Mattes told The Factor about the story he is investigating. “This is a massive real estate scam where people were buying homes under fictitious names, renting them out, and not paying the mortgage. According to our information, Mr. Suleiman was using fictitious names to buy homes illegally, then taking all the money out of those homes.” Mattes added that the con involved not only financial machinations, but threats of bodily harm. “Every person we’ve interviewed for this series has felt threatened. One man said they threatened to break his legs and rape his wife. But Suleiman and his wife are out on bail, out on the streets of San Diego.”

I’d say they were all lucky the ‘wife’ couldn’t find a gun. It’s too bad that the focus is on the attack in the video now, as I’d like to know more about the investigation. How many lenders were involved, how many real estate agents. Would like to know what to look out for because surely this isn’t the only zany couple out there scamming folks for money in a similar fashion.

todd - very lucky indeed! we too would like to know more about the original investigation but it seems that the media is more focussed on the sensational. we hear rumours that he may be a real estate broker himself but can’t verify that bit of info. we also heard that they are both out on bail and that the wifes bail/bond was much higher than the husbands becuase of her threat to get a gun and also because she stole/broke a piece of the cameraman’s equipment.

if anyone can point us to more facts on this story please do so.

I am a realtor and am appalled at the type of people that area able to practice real estate. As of today the two of these idiots still have real estate licenses, I just checked the Department of real estate website. I would recommend that people bombard the department demanding that these two have thier licenses removed forever.

I Dont care what transpired prior to the he said she said alleged scam! But to watch a female as you see I didnt say lady, And a Man physicaly attack a person and use the language they did. Tells me they are guilty of something. How professional they are huh? What ever happened to the legal system? They basicaly in front of millions of viewers took legal action in their own hands. I guess they are above the law. To me they are a bunch of thugs.
