Redfin Real Estate Video in the News


A great comparison between two different types of consumers looking to buy real estate:

1. Traditional Buyer = Looking for the local expertise of an experienced Real Estate Agent to help him find the right home in the right area.
2. DIY Buyer = Buyers that know what they want, where they want it. They are utilizing Redfin’s service which displays listings on a map to help them find their new home. When the deal closes they look forward to receiving 2/3rds of the buyer’s broker commission back. This is very enticing for buyers.

This video is great because it shows how there are different types of consumers out there with different needs and different levels of buying /selling experience. The more choices they have the better buying and selling experience they will have.

    Yet if you ask a typical agent about redfin you’ll get shoulders shrugged at you. I know because that was me about two weeks ago.

    Cool on the media to do this report the way they did it. Very fair.

    Negotiating and seeing a transaction through is my forte… maybe I need to work for redfin in the near future??

    todd - as with any new type of real estate business model, there will be those that embrace it and those that put it down. having choices is a good thing, for both consumers and brokers/agents! the best thing to do is make yourself as informed and educated as possible and specialize in a particular niche. this way, you will be best equipped to assist your clients and customers as the local area expert. then it really shouldn’t matter which company you work for, because real estate is about relationships and people will be hiring “YOU”.
