[...] I missed the big Inman debate of “High Touch V.S. High Tech” (you can view the videos from the debate on Sellsius blog) but I do remember seeing this NAR survey from a few months ago that that shows Buyers and Sellers use technology but they want personal service too. Of 7,500 respondents, 83% used full-service tradtional brokers, 9% limited service and 8 % used really limited service. 50% of those using limited-service brokers were unhappy with their experience.
[...] Last week, Allan Dalton of Move.com squared off with Glenn Kelman of Redfin at the 2007 Inman News Real Estate Connect. Sellsius blog has posted videos of this “High Touch vs. High Tech” debate in four parts: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4. This showdown was a highlight of the conference, and both gentlemen had a lot to say relevant to non-traditional business models and the roles of agents in a high-tech marketplace.
Is it me? Did I read into the video to much? Dalton seems so passionate about the "traditional Realtor" and makes his stand so clear. Wheareas Kelman - I did not get it. I understand that his model is to "empower" the buyer - but his empowering = money. Aren't they paying their buyers to work with them - he said that Redfin Agents - dont want to take buyers out. They got tired of driving people around. So - The Redfin agent wants to do less?

Redfin is going to Boston. This should be interesting.

I'm the V.P. of Education of my Speechcrafters Group - Toastmasters International in Redmond.

I sent them the podcast to show what happens to a dynamic speaker when you make him sit in a chair, and he still tries to talk with his hands in a Podcast :)

We will have to train everyone on how to be dynamic, without needing to be standing up LOL

Mr. Dalton makes a powerful value added proposition regarding the skills of Realtors. It's very difficult to automate such things as negotiating ability and staging experience.

Sellsius - thanks for posting that... it's great for those of us that couldn't make the conference. As for the guy above me (hi!), the demand may indeed seem small at this time, the operative phrase being 'at this time'. It's Redfin's ability to see the future that will leave them (and those like them) standing in 50 years time, long after we've all retired. Stop thinking 'now' and start thinking 'tomorrow'.
