Central Park Drums With Chaka Chocolate

I was strolling around in Central Park and happened upon a bunch of people sitting on benches with drums. I thought, hmmm? That’s interesting. Little did I know that it was the calm before the storm of great musical and dance event courtesy Chaka Chocolate and friends. Chaka is the one in all white with the cool looking hat. He’s known as the King of Central Park.

Over the course of 25 minutes, I watched the evolution of enthused participants and spectators grow. When I got there, a few people were playing the drums, then more settled in and the decibel level increased. Two people were dancing in the grassroots circle while the crowd looked on. Then another spectator, turned dancer entered the circle. I felt like hopping into the circle myself but held myself back for fear of embarrassing myself :) Soon, the circle was filled with people from all walks of life. The smiles on there faces spoke volumes. I guess this can be considered a form of offline user generated content or consumer participation.

I love to dance like that too. Is that the SMOG dance? Didnt NYC have warnings not to go outside today because of stale air and thick smog today?
