Firefox Add On: Add to Search Bar Makes for Easier Search

Here are my 3 common ways to get around the net:

I use the Search Bar (located to the right of my browser box) to store search engines like Google, Ask and …ah… well, that’s it for search engines. But what’s really cool is using it to store other sites I commonly search such as Wikipedia, Creative Commons, flickr, ebay, Amazon, Craigslist and Summize.

I can add any website search to my Search Bar using the Add to Search Bar Firefox add-on. I just visit the site I want to add, right click at the website’s search box and then click “add to search bar”. BAM! Another site I can easily pull up to search.

Here’s how I added Craigslist:

I went to craigslist.org, right clicked at the search box & then clicked “Add to Search Bar.” Done.

You can use this Add-On to store a bunch of real estate search sites. Now, when you click the down arrow in the Search bar, the box opens to reveal all the sites you stored (see below). Just pick one, put in your location or zip code and hit enter. Through internet magic, you will be taken to the search results. [note: some sites don’t work so well: zillow, cyberhomes, realtor.com. Others work great: trulia, dothomes, craigslist]
