Yahoo to Put Ads in Adobe Pdfs

Yahoo will place ads where no ads have gone before– in pdf* files.  In a deal with Adobe, the right margin of pdfs will be available to advertisers through Yahoo.  The ads will contain links to the advertisers’ websites.   Now, the next time you read a treatise on real estate law, you’re likely to see an ad by Zillow, Trulia, Redfin or Brian Brady.

The program is called Ads for Adobe PDF Powered by Yahoo.  Interestingly, the ads will not appear when the documents are printed– yahoo!   Wired was one of the first to sign up as a publisher.

*Portable document format , created by Adobe in the 1990s.
