Summer is fast approaching and with it outdoor events like picnics and barbeques. Well, here is a new outdoor toss game I discovered last weekend. It is great family fun for all ages. It’s called “Washers”.
A variation of horseshoes, it requires accurately pitching 2.5 inch metal washers into a wooden box with a can in the center. Score 3 points in the “Pipe” (can), 2 points in the “Box” and 1 point in the “Field” (one washer length or foot next to the box, whatever you prefer). First to 21 wins. Play 1 on 1 or teams.

The game can be found on E-bay or a website called FunMatrix ($24.95). If you’re handy, you can build your own game boxes. Wood boxes are 14″ x 14″, 3.5″ high, use Center Can with 4-4.25″ diameter. Tossing Washers are 2.5″ outside diameter (3 or 4 washers to a player). Paint them bright colors. For custom washers (broker logo?) visit Washerpit. For more info/official rules visit Washers.org.
Hint: Use an underhand flipping toss for best results (at least that’s what the pros I played with told me).
Broker tip: Washers would make a nice and unusual Closing gift for the entire family to enjoy. It lasts longer (and lots more fun) than the standard closing gifts and one that will sure to garner you some great “word of mouth” advertising. Be unique and stand out from the crowd.
