How To Take A Screenshot With Windows

Here’s a 5 step guide to taking screenshots with Windows. Obvious stuff to all the pros out there, but not everyone is a pro. So here goes.

1. First find the web page you want to copy. Line it up on the screen as you would want to copy it. What you see onscreen will be the snapshot (screenshot).

2. Now locate the PrtSc key (on top right of my toshiba notebook next to F12).

3. Hold down Alt key. Then press the PrtSc key. You just took a screenshot.

4. Now where is it? It’s on your clipboard. Where’s that? Open Word and look for the little clipboard icon (hopefully rolling over the icon will say “clipboard” or “paste” & you know it’s the clipboard). Click the clipboard icon. Whala…your screenshot appears.

5. You can now save it (I like to save to Desktop as png), print it, send it.

6. These advanced steps let you type or draw over the screenshot to suit your needs:

7. Open mspaint by clicking “Start” key then typing “r”. A screen appears with a text box. Type in “mspaint”. Whala. Mspaint screen opens.

8. Copy (Edit-Select all)and paste your screenshot from Word to mspaint (Edit Paste). The screenshot will appear in the mspaint screen.

9. Now you can type or draw over your screenshot (& other stuff).

10. When finished, you can now save, print or send your worked-up screenshot.

That’s the skinny. Very basic. Very easy.
